blissmorgan: (good morning)

For the last couple of days, Beyond the Sea has been dominating the brain radio. This morning, though, it started to swap over to Swinging On A Star. Therefore when I got in the shower I put on a YouTube mix rooted specifically in the Hudson Hawk version of the song, and let me tell you that was a great decision to start the day. That, Bobby McFerrin, Israel kamakawiwo'ole, Stealers Wheel, Smashmouth with interludes from the Mystery Men movie, Four Non-Blondes... this is a good mix. My mood is amped. My face is puffy from too much bourbon last night and angry because I had the dumbass idea to try to deal with the lots of loose dry skin on it by using the pumice stone on my face while in the shower.

But.

The good music, the being able to pick out exactly the scent profile I wanted from my several hundred little perfume vials (Master Bedroom from Solstice Scents, for the curious; I wanted something cedar and spice, and this hit that nicely), the good lipstick I stumbled on by accident having forgotten I have it, and having a little downtime before heading out to work? I'm feeling good, friends. Here, have my face:

It also helps a lot that my writing partner for a story that I am really enjoying messaged me back after I sent out a "Did I lose you?" feeler yesterday, and apparently thought they had already written back and weren't ignoring our story at all. So, VERY excite about that.

I am probably not making a novel happen this month, but I am getting writing done in my own way, and that's good; sometimes one must need come to a thing obliquely.

What one good thing is in your day, Blisstopia?

Sounds like a great selection of music :)
I've been on "Music similar to Gloryhammer" for the past few days, to drive away anxiety. Maybe it's time for me to switch to something a little different.

That sounds like a pretty good description :)

They've got 2 albums last time I checked. Each one tells a story, and the instruments represent different characters. The first one, "Tales From the Kingdom of Fife" is about a necromancer trying to take over Scotland, and Angus Mcfife's quest to save the day. The second, "Space 1992: Rise Of the Chaos Wizards" is set a thousand years later, and has Scottish space knights led by Angus Mcfife XIII.

Well, it's Wednesday so the week is downhill after today? Good music suggestions also so that's a plus!

Hoping to get way too much done at work today because I need to, but I don't look or smell near as awesome as thee.

I do recommend staying away from too much bourbon and doing as much writing as you enjoy!

Hi Bliss. Thanks for the ear worm.

Happy for the result of your state's ballot initiative on trans* rights.

I'm tired.

What's good? This manga:

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. Translates to something like "Yokohama Shopping Trip". Robot coffee house manager lives through the leisurely, bucolic end of civilization. A prime example of a "gentle apocalypse" story.

That is an excellent face.

I've been sick for the last week and had random bouts of crushing despair thanks to the political landscape and the inability for any of my children to actually sleep allowing me to have any kind of life.

But I woke up feeling a lot better today, the political climate is (as of now) begun improving, it's no longer raining, I'm going to get a run in, I get a date with R this weekend, and we're coming up on the random season of lots of days off of work.

My kids still aren't sleeping, but that's a problem for a different lifetime.

My novel is excitedly going splendid. I already pounded words into the typing keys and so brain is mush. The good kind of mush. The kind of mush that makes sleeping glorious instead of exhausting.

Yay for writing partner getting back to you.
