I caught myself trying too hard to perform “pretty” and so this is what you get today.

Alas, I did not have the foresight to stick out my pinky and so you cannot see the fabulous goldenglimmer made-for-me-specifically nail polish that I am wearing. I have gotten to the point where half the bottle is gone, now, and I am therefore using it increasingly sparingly so that it will last longer.

 

Today’s perfume is Scherezade, from BPAL. They say it is “Saffron and Middle Eastern spices swirled through sensual red musk.” I say it is dragonsblood with the sweet yanked out and a little extra of a particular incense thrown in. These descriptions are different, but not necessarily in disagreement.

 

I had yesterday off, except that there was a work meeting at five that I DEFINITELY forgot about until my calendar chimed at me at 4. Modern technology reminders FTW! Going to the meeting also meant I got to pick up an extra shift today yesgoodgivemethemonies.

 

The dragonfly blanket was such a hit that a distant relative is facebooking me asking to pay me to make one. I’m going to reply and agree, of course, but I am nervous about whether to give her an actual price right up front, and then discount it, or simply to discount it for her out of hand. I’m worried she will say it is still too much.

 

This is all complicated by the fact that I definitely did not time myself while making the first one, so I do not know exactly - or even approximately - how many hours I put into it. *facepalm*

 

I’ve been keeping up my prompt postings for Nightmare Fuel, but the number of people responding to them has dropped off sharply. I, too, have stopped writing. The nightmares have started, but I’m still staying asleep so…. IDK.

 

I brought the plants in last night; it was too late for the basil, which went to spotty and then fully brown within a day. The rosemary and, of all things, the deer hoof fern are absolutely thriving. I pushed it with the spider plant, but I think it’s going to be okay, even if some of the legs and babies are shrivelling.

 

I need to look around Dreamwidth and find some active written roleplaying communities. Because I have a need.

I know that I HAVE been far more tired lately, even to the point of refusing to save the world in favor of sleep, so I wonder if I'm necessarily getting rest, even if I AM staying asleep.

Good morning! Brains are busy even in "repose". That makes me feel tired more so than I can communicate to others, but it is a real thing. Shine on with sparkly nails and smells!

My brain was so busy last night, and I don't remember all of it. I remember there was a resort and our room was sort of on the third floor. I remember there were construction workers who did loudness much too early and I went down and yelled at them a lot and SALM was embarrassed for me. And I think there was something with either giant animated stuffies, or people in big animal costumes.

Brains are so weird.

Sparkly nails are good. I'm still training myself not to stick out a finger when drinking; and occasionally do it without thinking. Moreso with tea than coffee, I think.

The name Scherezade looks like a typo to me every time I glance at it. I have no idea why, given that it's most likely based on an Arabic name that has been given at least five different roman-alphabet spellings in different works of fiction.

I might be less active on the Nightmare Fuel for the rest of the month, as I have a contest story to finish before the end of the month, and need to do some kind of prep for nano. But will try to write some if the pictures speak to me.

Long time since I did any roleplaying; I still kind of miss it. I've got a couple of huuuge games planned out, but no longer know sufficient quirky players around here.

I tend to have the pinky out when I'm not thinking about it or focused on what I am looking like while I am drinking a beverage. I've gotten made fun of for it on more than one occasion. :-/

Scherezade looks like a typo because the name of the character in fiction is usually spelled Scheherazade. I think you have hit upon a reasonable and probably explanation for the spelling drift, although while searching the web it seems that the latter spelling is still the most common.

No worries about not being so active in the NFP. I'm glad to see you maintaining and balancing your momentum and foxus across several writing projects.

I need to poke around at the roleplaying interest tag and see what turns up...

Picking up shifts is so great! Although I also look forward to being financially stable enough to have the privilege of looking forward to getting out early rather than trying to get every extra 15 minutes I can.

I've managed it several times, and this one already almost joined them on a windy day that knocked over my wee greenhouse and pitched the plants bouncing down the steps.
