....surprise! Actual post, if you got this far past the linkdump and didn't just zoom past! If I have lots of infolinks first and then the chatty posty introspection after, does that mean this is like the inverse of the standard recipe blog post structure?

It is Friday, and my day off, but today my day off is not precisely my own. I got 2/3 of the Spawn enschoolenated, of course; the bulk of my day now turns on the axis of the remaining child, Middlest. We are into the city later, to see her orthodontist and get pronouncement on how well her mouth appliance survived the holidays and whether her teeth are still in the right place, and if they are then they will likely remove the appliance and send us off with a scrip to have several teeth removed by her regular dentist so they have room to work with vis-a-vis dental spatial adjustment and straightening.

This is always a fun trip, because we get some fun girl time together (assuming she is not in full tweenager angst mode), ride the trains, grab delicious hotpot, and goof off. There will be the bonus surprise of which she is unaware, that her dad is getting some dental work done this morning and will be meeting us for hotpot lunch. I hope it is a good surprise.

Hm, I wonder if I can convince him to come with us to her appointment and then all drive home together, thereby saving monies on train tickets.

Anyhoo, trains and hotpot and all cost monies that I did not have immediately to hand, so I have to run myself through a shower, go to the bank to deposit a check and take out some monies, and then get the child up and dressed and ready to catch a mid-morning train so we get there in time for Teh Lonch.

Eventually I will be home again....at which point I will be taking Youngest Spawn over to the Home Despot to pick out a little pot of green paint with which to paint the drawerfronts of his new bureau. I also need to dig through my purse and see if I still have the receipt from the purchase, because I bought it on Saturday and less than a week later it went on WICKED IKEA Family sale. I could really use those $50, and it's worth it to go hit up their Customer Service folks for it.

If I wanna stay on track, I better get moving. There will also be grocery shopping tonight to prep against the Weekend Weather. 8-12 inches predicted in my area, y'all. Not really looking forward to it.

Hello, Blisstopia. <3

Your day sounds like it has the potential for swellness -- make it so! And your linkdumps never fail to surprise.

Convert F to C: subtract 32 then divide by 1.8 OR subtract 32, multiply by 5, then divide by 9

OR

remember this chart and fudgestimate the intermediate values (my method) -- 9 F degrees = 5 C degrees, so when one side goes up by 5, the other side goes up by 9 yadda yadda

0 C = 32 F
5 C = 41 F
10 C = 50 F
15 C = 59 F
20 C = 68 F
25 C = 77 F
30 C = 86 F
35 C = 95 F
40 C = 104 F
37 C = 98.6 F

You see the pattern, you can also start at 0 C and subtract 5 on one side and 9 on the other to work your way down into January temps... :\

All I learned in school was the not-all-that-easy-to-remember** equation -- the chart with its pattern I worked out on my own.

Recipe blogs are terrible things. So much scrolling only to find out it's got six ingredients you don't have and one you've never heard of but you're pretty sure it's what earned your next door neighbour a stern warning from the bomb squad.

I will gladly trade you your snow for our ridiculous cold. We are planning to hibernate all weekend, and that’s really okay with me. We spent $ridiculous on fixing our van door today, and there is more important but not critical work that still needs to be done, so staying home means we’re not spending. We’re still trying to recover from my 7 week work ‘vacation’ (also known as broken leg + surgery).

I love IKEA though, and their sales are awesome. The closest one is four hours away, and it’s still probably too close to keep my bank account safe :)

Well, there’s a novel. Maybe I should really start blogging myself!

My husband cringes every time I say I’m going to IKEA. If he’s going, it’s because he knows I’m going to go through every one of those tiny little rooms and comment on half the stuff in them, and if he’s not, because I have no supervision and therefore pick up all sorts of nonsense. I can usually refrain from furniture, but the Marketplace kills me every time.

Ah, the leg. I broke it after our Santa Claus parade, which was unfortunate timing since it scared the kids and they’ll probably never want to go again. My oldest legit let go of my hand when the paramedics came with tears in her eyes and said ‘Mommy, if you pass away...’. Poor kid. I assured her I’d be taken care of, and that I wasn’t dying.

Not even a fun story though, I just slipped on ice and broke both my tibia and fibula. They gave me the option of cast or one of two surgeries, and although I’m pretty terrified of anesthesia, I opted for the surgery where they stick a rod and screws in my leg. Shortest recovery time (definite bonus with four kids), no cast, no follow up surgery. Seemed like a good idea to me. The first two weeks were brutal, the pain meds weren’t very effective for me, and I had a pretty rotten attitude. It’s now eight weeks later and I’m hobbling crutchless in the house, and one or two crutches outside depending on how much snow and ice there is. I went back to work last week because my boss is awesome (and I need money... kids like eating!). Surgeon says it’s healing ahead of schedule, and other than trying to raise my toes up toward my knee, which is still painful, it doesn’t bother me too much. I’m just hoping it doesn’t end up affecting my knee, since bad knees run in my family, but that’s a problem for future me. I’m mostly just thankful it was fixable, you never know when something’s going to happen that changes your life I guess.

Okay, that’s it, guess I’m figuring out how to blog this weekend lol.

Bodies can be so frustrating! Ankles are pretty hard to work around too, you either can’t move or basically need crutches. I’m not excited about physio, but more because of the cost than the actual activity. I have a very understanding surgeon though and he recommended a place that is willing to do my assessment and see me less often if I follow a home plan. That seemed like a good solution.

Link dump to mind dump?

It will be cold and windy here this weekend, but no white stuff.

4 weeks now of enforced sitting at home is wearing on me. I'm happy you got out yesterday and I hope work isn't snowed in today!
