blissmorgan: (shenanigans)
In which I will be Drunkblogging the horror anthology film Holidays.

Some of you may not yet be familiar with Drunkblogs! Let me tell you: I select a film that I have not seen before, almost always available on a streaming service of some kind (but occasionally on DVD if I manage to get ahold of a cult classic that errybuggy seems to have seen but me); I drink some booze; I watch the film and comment upon it as I watch. Quotations! Guesses about plot progression! Yelling and flailing at actors and sometimes even the writers! It's all here, including spoilers, so avoid the comments if you want to not know what happens.

On the other hand, if you want to watch along and join in on the commentary, do feel free!

Special thanks go out to my Patreon contributors, those special Blisstopians who continue to help fund this and other shenanigans.

Grab a drink and queue up the film, if you wish - this one is available on Netflix. Among others, it features work by Kevin Smith, and having previously seen Tusk I have great hopes.

I intend to begin at approximately 8:30pm EST.

Those of you who have followed me over from the Ploos know that (A) I have a Patreon and (2) one of the things that it funds is irregular Drunkblogs. For those new to the term, it is, I assure you, an easy thing to understand:
  • I drink some booze
  • I watch a movie
  • I liveblog as I watch the movie
That's the shebang! It's a good time to be had by all, especially when I give some advance warning, which I am not doing tonight because I wasn't really planning on doing one but here we are. Some Drunkblogs are planned. Some are a surprise.

Things to know about the Drunkblog:

They are FAR from spoilerfree. I quote things, I talk about where I think the story is going to go, I yell at the characters, I yell at the writers, I make and break ships. I also remind everybody at the outset that all these things happen, so if you don't want to know something about a movie that I am Drunkblogging then you can freely move on.

I try to always pick something that is on a streaming service. I currently have Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime readily available to choose from. This makes it easy for folks to watch along if they want to, and participation in the liveblogging commentary is not just welcome, it's encouraged! I'm told that sometimes my bloggery is its own show, though, so don't be disheartened if I go with a thing that is not on a service you subscribe to.

You do not have to be drunk to enjoy the Drunkblog. Sober participation is hella encouraged for anybody who so desires.

All that said... I am about to kick off a Drunkblog! This will be my first one on Dreamwidth, and may have some wonk as I try to work out the mechanics of rapidfire commenting on my own post while drinking Ardmore and watching the film. This site has threaded commentary, which the site I used to do this on did not. Feel free to wander off into side conversations as we go. :D

Tonight's film is a 2007 horror comedy called Murder Party.

"A lonely man attends a random Halloween party, only to learn that the sketchy art students hosting the bash intend to kill him for grant money."

....what the fuck, I haven't even started watching this and I already kind of love it. Check out this poster, dude looks like he's wearing a hat that should have been Doritos:

It is currently ten past 8, EST, and I will be getting this murder party started in probably the next ten minutes or so, so grab your beverage if you want one, queue up your Netflix, and beware! Here there be spoilers.
